It's Hip to Be Square

Square Sterling Silver Bracelet
Tired of the every day? Need some variety from the typical round bracelet? Christine Carson has you covered. We know bangles don't have to be circles, and we've got the jewelry to back it up. So step out of your comfort zone, and get square!

Our square sterling silver bracelet is the perfect basic piece. Its unique shape has rounded edges to ensure that it is still comfortable on your wrist--no uncomfortable clunking around. Delicate, shining pyramids decorate the outer edge, ensuring that the bracelet will catch the light (and people's attention!) as you move through your day. This is a bracelet that moves from day to night, from errands to dance floor. Layer it with more traditional pieces, or pieces in other colors, for a fun, piled-on style.

Square Black Rhodium Bracelet
For a darker look, try the complimentary square black rhodium bracelet. This piece has the same design, but with the deep glamour of black rhodium. It's perfect for an edgier look: get bold, and pair it with the same dark leather and velvet looks that have been flooding the fall runways. The black rhodium bracelet also pairs beautifully with an evening style. It makes a bright complement to a little black dress, or a dark accent to a lighter look.

Both of these bracelets lend themselves perfectly to layering. Not only can you mix colors, you can mix shapes too! (these are also available in a round shape for a more classic look or for a nice mix with the square bracelets) You can try pairing them with rounder bracelets, like our sterling silver huggie bracelet, or wider styles, like our small sterling silver cuff, our small sterling silver cuff with 18K gold, or, for extra sparkle, our sterling silver and diamond bracelet. Wear a couple for a simple pop, or an armful for a dynamic, textural look. However you choose to style your square bracelets, you are sure to stand out from the crowd!

So much of the time, when picking jewelry, we are presented with two choices: silver, or gold. Now, there's nothing wrong with silver or gold. Both are beautiful, and both yield gorgeous jewelry. Sometimes, though, trying out something new can really take an outfit from interesting to truly unique. For those of you ready to take that step, we offer jewelry in black rhodium.

Not sure what that means? I'll spare you all the boring details, but here it is in a nutshell: rhodium, a silvery-white metal, can become black when plated over gold or silver. That's how we get terms like black gold or black silver--not to mention some really cool jewelry. It's the perfect alternative to the lighter tones of many accessories. Black rhodium will pop with lighter outfits, and lend new meaning to wearing all black for a dramatic evening look.

For elegant and classic pieces in this fascinating metal, check out our shop. Take a look at our black rhodium figaro chain, lovely peeking out behind the collar of a crisp white shirt. Or, if bracelets are more your speed, the square bracelet in black rhodium is very in-trend. Try more than one together, or even wear it with silver bangles--who says you can't mix metals? Either way, you're sure to catch somebody's eye.

What is rhodium?

Rhodium is a metal which is a member of the platinum group. It is used in the jewelry industry because of its high reflectivity, corrosion resistance, and hardness. When used as a plating, rhodium can protect the surface of jewelry from scratches and tarnishing. Rhodium is also used for enhancing the appearance of metals such as gold and silver. Although it is often used to enhance other metals, it is more frequently being used by itself, especially in rings.

Rhodium is rare and very useful in a wide variety of industries. Because of its high reflectivity, it is used in mirrors and search lights. Due to high demand, the price of rhodium hit $10,010 per ounce in 2008. According to Deutche Bank, for every ounce of rhodium mined, 114 ounces of gold are mined.
